The 21st century urban housing concept OurDomain Amsterdam Diemen is a new development adjoining Campus Diemen Zuid. This concept is the answer to the living needs of young city dwellers like students and young professionals. The three new apartment blocks, varying in height and size, contribute greatly to the existing atmosphere of this area.
The 770+ new student-housing units are located between Diemen Zuid and the Holland Park area. It is a mixture of small, medium and large studios and one-bedroom apartments for both short-term and extended stay. They range in size from 25 to 50 m² and about 70% of the apartments are furnished.
OurDomain Amsterdam Diemen consists of three new buildings; two separate blocks and an extended residence connected to the existing student campus. The playful variation in heights enhances the friendly urban atmosphere between the buildings and creates unity with the existing environment. The use of different colors and textures of the masonry reinforces a unified image of the campus life. The concept is an example of the continuous growth in housing options for young citizens in The Netherlands. The design for OurDomain Amsterdam Diemen is based on sustainable living solutions, flexibility, service and comfort combined with shared facilities. The complex will offer extensive on-site amenities such as flexible workplaces, resident lounge, restaurant and café, launderette and underground parking and bike facilities. Furthermore, the buildings are easily accessible by public transport.
OurDomain Amsterdam Diemen can been positioned as a ‘social catalyst’ for the campus area; the design is a concrete response to local housing needs and the facilities stimulate divers encounters with other residents of Diemen Zuid.
